Nervous
System of Birds |
•
You can hardly examine a histological sample of any kind without
finding some sign of nervous tissue, for example, sections of
myelinated or non-myelinated nerves, isolated neurons, encapsulated
nerve-ends or perhaps a nervous plexus.
• The nervous system consists of neurons of many shapes
and sizes, including its support elements, and is basically
the same to all domestic animals.

Central
Nervous System(CNS)
•
At the central nervous system, there is a structural framework
provided by neuroglial cells and their processes.
• Additionally, the meninges, formed by connective tissue,
surround the brain and spinal cord, providing support and protection.

Peripheral
Nervous System(PNS)
•
In the peripheral nervous system, there are no neuroglial cells
and many components of the system are supported by connective
tissue and special cells.
• For example, axons and bundles of axons of peripheral
nerves are jointly compressed by the loose as well as dense connective
tissue and the processes of neurons are supported by Schwann cells.
• Some selected examples of nervous system elements are
present according to their typical appearance in histological
preparations of various kinds.
